About Epione

Andrea Baker treating a horse during a massage session

I'm Andrea Baker and I run Epione Massage near Coltishall, North Norfolk.

I offer canine and equine sports therapy massage, red and blue light therapy, reiki, mobility mobilisation, canine strengthening and rehabilitation, gait analysis, along with a veterinary report if required. Massage works well alongside chiropractic and osteopathic techniques, allowing the soft tissues to relax prior to any adjustment requirements.

I have 40 years experience working, riding, driving, rehabilitating, and studying equines. A degree in Equine Studies, a member of Intelligent Horsemanship and BHS. After 25 years of experience in human sports massage and Bowen Therapy I’ve gained confidence in listening to my hands. With 20 yeas of owning rescue canines, I understand canine body language and an appreciation of their needs and requirements.

25 years ago, I achieved a diploma in Stress Control Therapy, this included breathing techniques, relaxing and sports therapy massage. I’m also qualified in Human Bowen Therapy, a gentle remedial therapy that works with mechanoreceptors and fascia. While I enjoyed helping people, my heart truly belongs with animals. The techniques I have learned can assist with a holistic approach to my therapies and can aid in calming nervous animals and owners.

I have been involved with equines for 40 years, either studying, riding and driving, caring and working. I worked at a large rescue organisation for 14 years, have a degree in equine studies, Intelligent Horsemanship certificate, BHS Stage 3, and now can add Merisha Massage.

I’ve owned rescue dogs for the last 20 years, currently caring for my aged Spingador Max. He is the inspiration for learning how I can best help him through his older years in the most natural way possible. I only wish I had gained my skill set years ago to have aided all my animals, and others, through their injuries, illnesses and old age.
I have a passion for animals with “behaviour issues” as I truly believe the vast majority are misunderstood and whether their issues are pain related, further training requirements or simply a caring patient owner, every animal can find their happy, safe home.

Massage can’t fix the body. It enables the body to fix itself. Releasing restricted and tight muscles enables the bones to return to their correct position. This brings the animal into an optimal healing para-sympathetic state. Helping to restore healthier digestion, improve circulation and lymphatic systems, improve mobility, decrease stress and anxiety and releases endorphins further reducing pain naturally.

All animals will have different requirements, tolerance levels and personality quirks. I work with the animal’s consent and if an unusual approach required, I will look “outside the box” to achieve beneficial results for a positive outcome.

(Such as massaging outside, weather and lack of distraction permitting, for canines who are intolerant of strangers in the home)

My mantra – “happy pet = happy life”

For both equine and canine treatments I can travel to your yard or home.
